Exam Details

SSC CGL 2026 Tier-I Exam Details

The Staff Selection Commission will conduct the Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2026 for recruitment to various Group B and Group C posts in Government of India Ministries, Departments, Organizations and other eligible bodies.

Total Vacancies: Approximately 12,256.

Tier-I Mode: Computer Based Examination (CBE).

Tier-I Schedule: August-September 2026.

Tier-II Schedule: December 2026.

Tier-I Subjects: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension.

Tier-I Questions: 100 questions in total.

Tier-I Maximum Marks: 200 marks.

Tier-I Duration: 1 hour, with a 15-minute sectional timer for each subject.

Negative Marking: 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

The original online application window was from 21 May 2026 to 22 June 2026. SSC subsequently reopened the application window for two days from 23 June 2026 to 25 June 2026 after receiving representations from candidates who could not submit their forms within the original period.

Eligibility and Preparation

Educational Qualification: For most SSC CGL posts, candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or equivalent as on 01 August 2026.

Junior Statistical Officer: A Bachelor's Degree in any subject with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at Class 12 level, or a Bachelor's Degree with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.

Statistical Investigator Grade-II: The notification specifies subject-specific Bachelor's degree requirements.

Age Limit: Depending on the post, the age limit is 18-27 years, 20-30 years, 18-30 years or 18-32 years as on 01 August 2026.

Age Relaxation: Applicable relaxation is provided to eligible reserved and other categories as per Government rules and the SSC notification.
